1610: Ieyasu Dispatches Tanaka Shōsuke to New Spain - Sengoku Shogun Map
Ieyasu dispatched the Kyoto merchant Tanaka Shōsuke to Spanish New Spain (Mexico) to explore renewing trade with Spain's Manila-based colonial network. The mission reflected Ieyasu's ambitions to expand overseas commerce and formed part of a broader pattern of exchange that would culminate in the later Keichō embassy to Europe.
