In Settsu, Oda forces attack strongholds of the Miyoshi Triumvirs and Hongan-ji, but retreat when Azai–Asakura advance south.
Major events
- September 1570: Battle of Noda-Fukushima — While Oda Nobunaga faced the Azai and Asakura in the north, the three Miyoshi commanders raised troops in Shikoku and took Noda castle. Nobunaga turned back from the north in haste.
- September 1570: The Honganji rises and Nobunaga falls back on Kyoto — Nobunaga drew up his lines at Tennoji and Ebie, but with the Ishiyama Honganji also taking up arms he was hard pressed and fell back on Kyoto. From here began the ten-year Ishiyama war with the Honganji.
