After attacking Hojo satellite castles including Yamanaka, Toyotomi armies encircled Odawara. The defenders relied on the extensive outer fortifications enclosing the castle town.

Hideyoshi establishes his headquarters at Ishigakiyama
Hideyoshi established a fortified headquarters at Ishigakiyama overlooking Odawara. The later name 'one-night castle' does not mean that the fortress was built in a single night.

The Later Hojo surrender
After the fall of satellite castles and a prolonged encirclement, the Later Hojo surrendered. Ujimasa and Ujiteru were ordered to die, Ujinao was sent to Mount Koya, and Tokugawa Ieyasu was transferred to their former lands.
