Page of Shibata Katsuie
birth year unknown – 1583
Said to have served as page and mounted retainer to Shibata Katsuie, with two brothers also said to have served under Katsuie, though no specific career records are found in official institutional sources. According to tradition, at the Battle of Shizugatake when the Shibata forces were defeated, he died in combat as Katsuie's substitute, raising a golden sacred staff as the Shibata standard. However, this anecdote's sources are later compilations such as Taikōki and Hoan Taikōki, and is not corroborated by contemporary documents. Nagahama City recognizes the 'Menju Brothers' Grave' as a constituent cultural property of the Shizugatake fortress group and ancient battlefield area, indicating its location in Yogo-chō Shindō, Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.
