Hashiba Hidekatsu

Born in Eiroku 11 as a son of Oda Nobunaga (some accounts describe him as Nobunaga's fourth or fifth son), he became the adopted son of Toyotomi Hideyoshi after Hideyoshi's biological son died young, and adopted the name Hidekatsu. As multiple individuals bore the name Hidekatsu—including Ishimaru Hidekatsu and Kokichi Hidekatsu—they must be distinguished when creating chronologies. He served as Hideyoshi's castellan of Nagahama Castle and, immediately after the Honnō-ji Incident, co-hosted Nobunaga's funeral with Hideyoshi at the Daitoku-ji Temple. In Tenshō 13 he became lord of Tamba Kamiyama Castle and began castle reconstruction, but on December 10 of the following year he died of illness at age 18.
