Eleven days after the Honnoji Incident, Hashiba Hideyoshi returned from Bitchu and defeated Akechi Mitsuhide at Yamazaki. Mitsuhide’s regime collapsed after little more than ten days, and Hideyoshi rose above his peers in the Oda house.
