Battle of Terabe Castle
Matsudaira Motoyasu is said to have attacked Suzuki Shigetatsu, lord of Terabe Castle, who had defected to the Oda faction while serving the Imagawa. This is said to be his first battle.

Mikawa Ikkō-ikki Begins
Tokugawa Ieyasu's forces clashed with followers of the Honganji school centered on Mikawa's three major temples, and his retainers split between the two sides. The conflict continued until a settlement and suppression in spring 1564.

Tokugawa Ieyasu Captures Yoshida Castle
Tokugawa Ieyasu captured Yoshida Castle from the Imagawa side and entrusted Sakai Tadatsugu with the castle and the governance of eastern Mikawa. Imagawa control receded as Ieyasu advanced the unification of Mikawa.

Matsudaira Ieyasu Takes the Tokugawa Name
After pacifying Mikawa, Matsudaira Ieyasu received court approval to adopt the Tokugawa name and was appointed governor of Mikawa, strengthening the legitimacy of his rule.

6/23Tokugawa Ieyasu Returns to Okazaki by Crossing Iga
Assisted by people in Kōka and Iga and by the merchant Chaya Shirōjirō, Tokugawa Ieyasu escaped through Iga and reached Okazaki Castle on June 4.

家康の重臣で岡崎城代だった石川数正が、妻子と信濃小笠原家の人質を連れて出奔し秀吉方についた。徳川の軍制に通じた重臣の離反は痛手となり、家康は軍制を改めたと伝わる。出奔の動機は確定していない。
