Based in Odawara, Ujitsuna changed his family name from Ise to Hōjō between June and September to strengthen the legitimacy of his rule in Sagami. Meanwhile, the Ōuchi and Hosokawa missions clashed at Ningbo in Ming China, seriously disrupting Sino-Japanese trade.
