1596: The San Felipe Incident and the Keichō Fushimi Earthquake - Sengoku Shogun Map

An incident involving the crew of the Spanish galleon San Felipe, wrecked off the coast of Tosa, prompted Hideyoshi to crack down on Christian missionaries and their followers. That July, a major earthquake struck the Kinai region and collapsed buildings at Fushimi Castle, killing many, making this a year in which disaster and rising tension converged in the final phase of Hideyoshi's rule.
