Hori Hidemasa

A figure who began as a close attendant to Oda Nobunaga and became a daimyo based in Echizen Kitasho under Hideyoshi's regime. Close attendants were not merely young men serving the daimyo's person but served as messengers, intermediaries, military commanders, and document transmitters, forming a layer that connected the lord's intentions with regional daimyo and retainers. His career demonstrates the continuity by which Nobunaga's close advisors were incorporated directly into Hideyoshi's regime. Military narratives and later biographical accounts portray him as particularly capable strategist, but confirmed activities are limited to military participation, assignment to Kitasho, and issuance of decrees.
