Hori Hideharu

Son of Hori Hideshige. After his father's death, he assumed family leadership and command of large forces while still young, and in 1598 moved to Echigo to conduct land surveys. His career demonstrates the generational transition and reorganization of regional rule under the Toyotomi regime. Remains of Nō stages and tea rooms at the Nagoya campaign site indicate social space existed, but this alone does not justify characterizing the camp as recreation-focused. The administrative body and timing of Echigo surveys must also be verified individually, as land survey records contain gaps.
