1490: Ashikaga Yoshiki Becomes the 10th Shogun - Sengoku Shogun Map

Since the late shogun Yoshihisa had left no heir, Yoshiki (later known as Yoshitane), the son of Ashikaga Yoshimi and an adopted heir, became the 10th shogun. Though the succession itself was settled, tensions gradually grew between the new shogun and Kanrei Hosokawa Masamoto, planting the seeds of the Meiō Coup that would follow in 1493.
