1501: Hosokawa Masamoto Codifies Rules for His Retainers - Sengoku Shogun Map
Kanrei Hosokawa Masamoto issued a written code of rules to keep his senior retainers under tighter control, seeking to consolidate his power base. At the same time, Masamoto grew increasingly devoted to Shugendō mountain asceticism, dispatching yamabushi ascetics around the country to gather intelligence, a highly unusual style of rule that made him a singular figure of the age.
