1532: The Burning of Yamashina Hongan-ji - Sengoku Shogun Map
An allied army of Hosokawa Harumoto and the Hokke (Nichiren sect) leagues burned Yamashina Hongan-ji, the base of the rival Ikkō-ikki. Hongan-ji's chief abbot Shōnyo relocated his headquarters to the Ōsaka gobō, an event that laid the foundation for the later Ishiyama Hongan-ji. In the aftermath, the Hokke sect briefly gained the upper hand in Kyoto.
