1599: The Death of Maeda Toshiie and the Attack on Ishida Mitsunari - Sengoku Shogun Map

With the death of Maeda Toshiie, one of the Five Elders who had counterbalanced Hideyoshi's absence, seven military-minded generals including Katō Kiyomasa and Fukushima Masanori moved almost immediately to attack and kill Ishida Mitsunari. Mitsunari lost his position as a magistrate, while Tokugawa Ieyasu moved into Fushimi Castle and grew ever more dominant within the Toyotomi administration, tipping the balance of power decisively in his favor.
