Background

After the abduction and death of Date Terumune, Masamune pressed the war against Nihonmatsu. Lords across southern Oshu formed a coalition against Date expansion.

Outcome

The Date army avoided destruction and the coalition withdrew amid pressures in Satake territory. The conflict continued toward the Koriyama campaign.
