Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded Kyushu after intervention in the Otomo-Shimazu conflict and compelled Shimazu Yoshihisa to submit.

Background

The Shimazu expanded north from southern Kyushu into Otomo territory. After fighting continued despite Hideyoshi's peace order, armies under Hidenaga and Hideyoshi entered Kyushu.

Outcome

Shimazu Yoshihisa submitted at Taiheiji in Sendai. The Shimazu retained Satsuma, Osumi, and part of Hyuga within the Toyotomi order.
