    Takeda Shingen invaded Imagawa Ujizane's province of Suruga and occupied Sunpu. The Later Hōjō, bound to the Imagawa by marriage, broke with the Takeda, bringing the tripartite alliance to an end.

    4/17Death of Tokugawa Ieyasu at Sunpu Castle

    Tokugawa Ieyasu, who had directed national politics as ōgosho, died at Sunpu Castle at the age of 75. By his will his remains were buried at Kunōzan, and the dual structure of Sunpu and Edo was consolidated under Hidetada.
