1575: The Battle of Nagashino and the Decline of the Takeda - Sengoku Shogun Map
Around Nagashino Castle in Mikawa, the allied Oda-Tokugawa army of 38,000 clashed with Takeda Katsuyori's 15,000 troops at Shitaragahara. Using anti-cavalry palisades and massed arquebusiers, Nobunaga repelled the Takeda's famed cavalry charges, killing many senior retainers including Yamagata Masakage and Baba Nobuharu. The defeat gutted the Takeda's core forces, and although the clan endured, it never fully recovered its former offensive strength.
