Oda retainer: Settsu and Ise regions
池田恒興
birth year unknown – 1584
A powerful Oda retainer involved in military operations in Settsu and Ise. Settsu was densely populated with castles, ports, and regional lords, and military movements unfolded through cooperation and conflict with local powers such as Araki Murashige, Nakagawa Kiyohide, and Takayama Ukon. After the Honnō-ji Incident in 1582, he joined Hashiba Hideyoshi's faction, and in the 1584 Komaki-Nagakute War he died in battle with his son Motosuke. The theory that he was Nobunaga's milk brother is widely circulated, but his role as a nursing mother, his family status, and his political authority must be verified separately in documents.
