Hosokawa Takakuni

Ōuchi Yoshioki escorted the exiled former shogun Ashikaga Yoshitada, later known as Yoshitane, into Kyoto with support from Hosokawa Takakuni and others. Yoshitada returned to shogunal government under a political order backed by Yoshioki and Takakuni.

Hosokawa Takakuni and Ōuchi Yoshioki's forces defeated Hosokawa Sumimoto's side at Funaokayama on the twenty-fourth day of the eighth month. Shogun Ashikaga Yoshitada returned to Kyoto on the first day of the ninth month and restored his government.

Hosokawa Takakuni began building Akutagawayama Castle in Settsu. It was completed by early 1516 and entrusted to Nose Yorinori.

After suffering defeat during Hosokawa Sumimoto's offensive in Settsu, Hosokawa Takakuni returned to Kyoto on the seventeenth day of the second month, but withdrew to Sakamoto in Ōmi after his offer to guard the shogun was rejected.

Emperor Go-Kashiwabara's enthronement ceremony, delayed for more than twenty years after his accession, was held on the twenty-second day of the third month with financial support from Hosokawa Takakuni and others.

The Ōuchi and Hosokawa missions clashed at Ningbo in Ming China over priority in trade. The incident, which began on the thirtieth day of the fourth month, seriously disrupted Sino-Japanese trade.

Miyoshi Motonaga, Yanagimoto Kataharu, and other supporters of Hosokawa Harumoto defeated Hosokawa Takakuni's forces at Katsurakawara, forcing Takakuni and shogun Ashikaga Yoshiharu to retreat to Ōmi.
